Hemmings Hot Rod BBQ Podcast

Oct 4, 2022

A few weeks ago, we did a podcast highlighting an upcoming Camaro build that we here at Hemmings were going to undertake. It was for a worn out 1987 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z that we had purchased that was simply tired. It had an old rod-knocking 350 small-black, a worn-out suspension system, and although the transmission was good, it was an automatic which simply didn’t flow with our idea of what a performance car should be. So, with the help of some great partners (Edelbrock, American Powertrain, Summit Racing, U.S. Radiator and more) we tore into it and rebuilt the sucker in the span of two weeks at our very own Sibley Garage up in Bennington, VT.

We also filmed a killer YouTube series that’s currently being edited together for your enjoyment, but that’s going to take a minute. However, while you’re waiting, we felt that y’all should be privy to what it takes to build a car in two weeks, as opposed to what the media will have you believe. On this week’s Hemmings Hot Rod BBQ, we sit down with Producer Ryan Douthit, and Hemmings own Terry McGean to lend a little insight into the ups and downs of updating an older car in such a short period of time.
